In the hours before the sun I wake to greet the moon Because the days are all so short I know I'll see her soon In the twinkling break of day As fall the corners of night I only turn from the moon to see The treetops crowned in light

I was walking through the heather In the hills I well recall When the wild geese and the shadows Mark the coming of fall In the silence of the westland Where the stone meets with the sea There her green eyes did ensnare me And will not set me free Oh, I never saw a vision Like the one standing there By the banks of the river With raven-black hair And when I’ve made my fortune I'll nevermore part From the banks of the river Where I first lost my heart Now the hills that I am wand’ring Are the ever-changing waves And the wild geese are the stars That mark the passing of days And the harbors where we shelter When the weather’s rough and wild Just remind me of the comfort When my love’s green eyes smiled Oh, I’ve never seen a vision Like the one standing there By the banks of the river With raven-black hair And when I’ve made my fortune I'll nevermore part From the banks of the river Where I first lost my heart

So many rivers For us to travel Which one will lead us To the sea Enter the rapids The flow devours us Then we surrender And are free Will we remember All that we strived for Things buried deep in Old desires I’ll know the answer When I have left here The ocean beckons Like a choir

about

This album started out from several instrumentals I've had lying around for years, and a new-found love for the genre of dungeon synth (thanks for the introduction, Adam).

It turned into a love letter to many of the beloved albums of my youth that melded synths, prog, soundscapes, and a love of fantasy/science fiction in ways that never seemed to let the the "electronic-ness" of a new generation of musical instruments get in the way of evoking the very real and human emotions of awe, melancholy and fear. They also managed to not let the patch cords get in the way of some amazing melodies.

Below are a few of the works that are both inspirations and aspirations for me. Standing on the shoulders of these giants, the view is truly amazing.

Cluster and Eno — After the Heat
Eno — Before and After Science
Bo Hansson — Music Inspired by Lord of the Rings, Magician's Hat
Thomas Dolby — The Golden Age of Wireless
Hawklords — 25 Years On
Vangelis — Bladerunner soundtrack
